Many times I have heard “christian” brothers say they don’t understand what their purpose is. Or on the other end of the spectrum, someone promotes their version of fulfilling your God given purpose. The latter typically is an entrepreneurial trope that I don’t have to read. Folks, if you don’t understand your God given purpose, are you sure you’re saved by the blood of the Lamb?
While many of us have different earthly talents that we exercise, few ever find our purpose in Christ. But, I’ll give you hint:
16 Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, to the mountain which Jesus had appointed for them. 17 When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some doubted.
18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
Matthew 28:16-20
It all boils down to this doesn’t it? We may not all serve with the same gifts, but it all works to the preaching of the Gospel. But isn’t there a second part?
Of Course, Worship of our Lord. Jesus said it perfectly:
10 Then Jesus said to him, “Away with you, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.’ ”
Matthew 4:10
Therefore isn’t our purpose to preach the Gospel and Worship our Lord Jesus? Of Course! Go forth and serve my fellow brethren! Let us not dally for the day is dark and we do not know whence our Lord comes. But be encouraged, for he is with us!
