Perspective (cognitive), one’s “point of view”, the choice of a context for opinions, beliefs and experiences.
Where do we get our perspective? Isn’t it from the things we read, observe and hear? People can get a perspective from the news, our parents, neighbors and events that happen to us. These things are framed by context. The conditions and circumstances that are relevant to an event, fact, etc.
So then what is the most important perspective to have? Isn’t it God’s? If we are filling our minds with entertainment. Or we are continually focused on politics then our perspective is that of man’s. If we are focused on Scripture and our prayers are towards God and His will for our lives, then our outlook becomes more like His.
In Matthew 5 and 6 Jesus gives us instructions on how to live our life. Near the end He says “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” (Matthew 6:33)
So He actually commands us to seek the kingdom of God first. It’s simple and makes sense doesn’t it? If we seek His kingdom then we aren’t worried about ours, thus we are taking up our cross daily and following Him.
Last Days of the Age 
Along similar lines, I often ask others in relation to what they believe; “Who is your authority?” I ask this because every one of us ultimately places our trust in someone or something or a combimination of the two. We derive our “beliefs” from these entities or from the perspectives we glean from them. For example, many people say the Bible is their authority and yet place more stock in what the local politician or national radio talk show host says. The proof is in our actions is it not?
We’re all preaching something. And what we preach will knowdoubtedly be propelled by our perspectives- what we choose to place our focus upon. That misdirected focus can deceive, sidetrack or even eventually shipwreck one’s faith. As you say Al, let us keep seeking His kingdom first, daily via the cross and all will be well.

I wanted to bump this. If we fill our minds with commentary from Fox News, Glen Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Alex Jones or Al Nelson, then we are not having the perspective of Christ and cannot know His will. If we get before the Lord first, then we can process what these people are saying from a Biblical foundation and not a political, social or patriotic perspective. It’s important to communicate ideas and learn what’s happening in the world, but what defines how you process that information? The commentator or your foundation in Christ?
