The Lord is my Shepherd

23 The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
2 He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
3 He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.

4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord
Forever. (Ps 23)

  1. Al Nelson says:

    The Lord IS my Shepherd. No man can step in and take His place. I am anserwable to Him alone.
    If I am walking in the Spirit and not the flesh then He will fulfill verses 2 through 3.
    If I am walking with Him I have nothing to fear no matter who or what comes against me.
    His rod and staff are His ways. They are a comfort if you have taken up your cross to follow Him.
    The Lord has indeed prepared a table before me in the presence of my enemies, and they are jealous

  2. Michael Ferguson says:

    Hello Al.

    It never gets old hearing about the marvelous promises of God and all that He has prepared for those who love Him. The contrast between all that we might experience in this world compared to the beauty of a heavenly kingdom and King one cannot begin to properly understand. We would do well to contemplate these heavenly realities often and remind ourselves where our true home resides. We are truly out of our element here as a result of what He has done, longing to be clothed with our heavenly home.

    It sounds as if brother Ian is attempting to recruit us into Google Plus- whatever that is- short for cyber revival- lol. It would be kinda interesting to see how this works out as I’ve yet to meet most of you.

    If I don’t call tonight I’ll try next weekend Al. Hope all is well there on the homefront and thanks for sharing as always. Love in Jesus, michael

    • Al Nelson says:

      Amen Michael. We need to go to these scriptures from time to time for encouragement don’t we. Otherwise, if we let go of His promises, then we can become weak, or weaker and the enemy tries to retake ground that Christ has already won for us.
      I look forward to seeing how the Lord fulfills His will in our fellowship when that happens too. Talk to you soon!

  3. Mickey Merrie says:

    The valley of the shadow of death… Ever been frightened by a shadow? Most of us have, yet:
    For we who are born crucified, the second death is only a shadow! Oh death where is thy sting?!?!

    That psalm is read at many funerals, yet this wonderful psalm of David is for we who live in Christ Jesus and He in us. I never tire of His Word! Thanks brothers!
